Foosball Basics 0
The sport of table football was invented by whom? Why an English football fan of course! His name was Harold Thorton, and avid fan of a professional English football team called the Spurs back in the last 1800s. He wanted to bring the thrill of the game home, where it could be played at any time, even in the off season. With a box of matches as inspiration, he began to formulate the beginnings of what Table Football, or “Foosball” as it is commonly referred to today. He was able to get this invention idea patented in England in the latter part of 1923.
When his uncle came to visit he liked to idea so much that he decided to try to develop the concept farther. There are many different variations of the first designs, and the concept of table football started a craze for other kinds of table sports, like air hockey, and table tennis.
The game is pretty simple. You have a table with a raised edge all the way around. Eight poles go across the width of this edge with rows of foosball players on them. Each side has four rows of men. There are many variations of how many men are placed along the rows, standard is 1, 2, 3, and five respectively.
Two to four players stand on each side and control the men to try to get the ball in the other’s goal. It is a highly competitive and fun sport to play. In fact it has become so competitive that the International Table Soccer Federation was formed to create standard rules and regulations, and it is being considered by the International Olympic Committee is considering it. Foosball and its many variations can be easily found in many bars and pubs around the world as well as other gaming centers.
If you are thinking about adding this exciting game to your entertainment collection, there are some things to consider first. One of them is space. Once you decide on what you feel is the right size, you should add at least a foot extra around the table for players, and the unpredictable nature of the game. You will also want to keep the table away from any breakable objects.
The other thing to consider is who will be using it. If you are buying it for your family, you may be able to get away with a cheaper model.
How to choose foosball table?
1. Review the materials:
The type of materials that a manufacturer uses to produce a football table will have an enormous impact on the model’s overall quality. Yes, cheaper materials will reduce the cost of the table unit. But arguably the compromise in quality isn’t worthwhile. Which materials are best when examining the various components of a football table? The frame of the table should be wood or metal. Avoid particle board, as it’s quite flimsy. The rods should ideally be steel. Aluminum is another option, though it’s significantly less sturdy than steel is.
3. Check the players’ weight and shape:
These are crucial factors to consider when comparing different models. Players with the proper weight and shape will be higher quality pieces. And that will translate into passes and shots on goal that are more precise. Unfortunately, many shoppers only consider superficial features of the players, such as their uniforms. However, the players’ shape and weight are more important in terms of influencing the overall quality of the table.
4. Examine the craftsmanship:
This is the critical variable to to consider when choosing among the various football tables available. Today, manufacturing products as cheaply as possible is often the name of the game. Can that save manufacturers a ton of money? Yes, but it can also cause shoppers to buy models with inferior craftsmanship. And ultimately that means that the games table has an extremely short life. Before spending your hard-earned money on a particular model, examine its craftsmanship carefully. If the craftsmanship is shoddy, then you’ll likely have to perform many repairs. You might even need to replace the table soon after purchasing it.
When shopping for football tables, you’ll likely prefer high quality over low quality. These above tips will help you to choose a table that’s worth its weight in gold-even when it’s made of wood!
Enjoying Music in your Vehicle 0
We musicians love our music and tunes, but we also live our rides! Are you in the market for a new automobile and not sure where to start to figure out what car is best for your needs? With the relatively recent addition of hybrid and electric vehicles in the car market there’s a lot to consider when you make this decision. First thing to consider is how many miles you drive each week or month. If you drive relatively few miles, investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle may not make economic sense yet as these cars tend to be higher priced than their gasoline-powered equivalents. And the electricity cost to charge your car could be about the same as it would be to buy a gas car. However, if you drive your car to work and your employer offers electric charging on site for no cost, then you may be able to offset the cost of powering your car that way. But, you need to then make sure you can drive from work to home and back on a single charge so that you don’t have to charge the car at home.
If you drive a lot of miles each week, and especially if you’re commuting to work a long way, then you need to be aware that most hybrid and electric vehicles are also limited in the range that you can drive them on a single charge. Charging stations used to be slow to charge, but there are now fast-charging stations available to charge your car and you can find them often at places of employment, at shopping malls, and at parking garages. So that gives you a lot more flexibility to make sure that your car does not run out of charge before getting to your next destination – and you can do so with just a short wait of ten to twenty minutes as opposed to the typical 8-10 hours.
Hybrid cars have qualities of having the best of both worlds. You don’t get range anxiety with hybrid cars because when the electric charge runs out it switches over to gasoline power. So you get the benefit of a more clean burning vehicle, but with a longer range of driving miles available to you on a single destination.
Natural gas powered vehicles are another option in the non-gas powered vehicle options, however, people with these cars typically have to plan their driving routes around the availability of natural gas pumps which is not as readily available as electric vehicle charging. Don’t forget quality lights in your garage to enjoy whatever vehicle you end up getting. Go here for a great list of garage lights.

The result of this is that different sound engineers handle these steps and they have specific roles and specializations. While they are different types, they are not to be misunderstood – even a single sound engineer can handle all these steps on his own. In fact, this is the most common way that events hire a sound engineer for. It is a luxury for events to hire a team of sound engineers, which also means that the said event is well-funded. One fine example of such event is a concert. That can’t be handled by a single sound engineer alone.
The other titles and roles that commonly taken by sound engineers include:
- Systems engineers – they are the ones responsible for setting up the amps, speakers and the complex PA systems.
- Monitor sound engineers – this type of role are the ones that take care of the sound that the band hears on the monitors while they are on stage. If you hear the band talking about giving instructions, they are giving orders to the monitor sound engineer.
- Studio sound engineers – this type of sound engineer can be found working inside a recording studio to create high-quality recordings of sound effects, speech, and music.
- Research and development – they are the ones that work closely in inventing new technologies, techniques, and equipment. It is to enhance the art and process of studio engineering.
- Game audio designer engineers – they are the ones responsible for the sound on the video created in computer game development.
- Wireless microphone engineers – they deal with wireless microphones in a theatre production, corporate event or sports event.
Spending time in the studio engineering music is great and satisfying work, but when it’s time to punch the clock and head out the door, it’s time to really appreciate the tunes! This is when engineers can really let hair down and rock out with their personal sound system. There are a lot of choices out there, read about the best head unit by carlysis blog and get ready for some serious grooving!
